Where we come from

We haven’t always been advocating for nature based projects and climate solutions as FORLIANCE: Everything we do today is based on the vision of the not-for-profit association CO₂OL, founded in 1998, to activate corporate climate protection. CO₂OL started calculating emissions of products, events, and companies and to offset those through forestry projects, long before the emergence of voluntary carbon compensation as we know it at present.

In 2014, ForestFinest Consulting GmbH is founded to provide forestry and agroforestry advisory services to a larger number of project developers, cooperatives and investors and takes CO₂OL on board, offering corporate climate responsibility services to clients.

With the rebranding to FORLIANCE GmbH in 2021, it is brought closer together what belongs together anyway: The services of CO₂OL and ForestFinest Consulting. The new name and logo stand for the all-under-one-roof concept that we offer to our clients:

Founding of CO2OL

Founding of the association CO₂OL in 1998 to activate corporate climate protection.

Continual forestry project management

In the following years, CO₂OL deepens its expertise in initiating and managing forestry projects under different sustainable management and carbon standards for offsetters and investors. The “CO₂OL Tropical Mix” reforestation project is just one example for successfully implemented and certified projects.

Support for Forest Finance Service

Starting in 2005 CO₂OL supports its clients as part of the Forest Finance Service GmbH which focuses on direct forest investments for private investors.

Founding of ForestFinest Consulting GmbH

In 2014, ForestFinest Consulting spins off from Forest Finance Service GmbH to provide forestry and agroforestry advisory services together with CO₂OL offering corporate climate responsibility services to clients.

Acquisition of the ForestCarbon Group

Through the acquisition of the ForestCarbon Group in 2016, ForestFinest Consulting not only strengthens its carbon client portfolio and carbon asset book but wins highly-skilled team members for their climate solutions team.

Management Buy Out of ForestFinest Consulting GmbH

After a few years as subsidiary of the Canadian company Naturebank, a Management Buy Out in 2020 enables the company to run independently.

Rebrand to FORLIANCE GmbH

With the rebranding to FORLIANCE in 2021, it is brought closer together what belongs together anyway: The services of CO₂OL and ForestFinest Consulting.

Foundation of the Joint Venture Re-Spire GmbH

Together with Salm-Salm & Partner GmbH, FORLIANCE founded the Joint Venture Re-Spire. As first of its kind, Re-Spire applies the standards of the international carbon market to reforestation projects in Germany, and thus enabling companies to engage regionally in a reputable and scalable manner.
